I am a qualified teacher with specialisms in Spanish, Geography & Irish. I have worked as a teacher in Ireland, Australia and the UK. I teach children the way I want my son to be taught. I try to make colourful resources that will engage and make teachers and students lives easier. I don't always get it right but I'm always learning and striving to. Claddagh Classrooms

Lá Fhéile Valintín Display - St. Valentines Day Irish

Simple display cards to get your room and your students in the festive romantic spirit. My students love St. Valentines Day and the display is nice when surrounded by students Valentines Day cards in Irish. Alternatively use the activity attached also. I use these as a game first to introduce the vocabulary to my students. They are placed around my room and students are given a list of Valentines vocabulary in English. They then have to find the Irish equivalent. It's nice to watch students discover the vocabulary themselves as opposed to looking at a PowerPoint and writing everything down in a vocabulary book. Once the lesson is finished they can go onto a display board. I've attached the .pdf for easy printing The words included are: Heart Flowers Present Card Chocolate Sweets A hug Cupid Cupcake Balloons Couple Teddy Ring Bain taitneamh as!

This 20 page booklet is an excellent revision tool for students for the topic of 'My area' in Spanish. This booklet can also be used as a means of preparing students for their written controlled assessment. The booklet contains various activities which aim to help students master the following aspects: 1. ¿Dónde vives? 2. ¿Qué hay en tu barrio? 3. Direcciones 4. Hablando de tu barrio 5. Problemas en tu barrio Each section contains a series of activities such as translation, fill in the gaps, comprehensions, matching exercises and ordering information. The final aspect of the boklet is a controlled assessment type of activity where students will produce a written piece about their area. They will be able to attempt to include the following: ¿Dónde vives exactamente? Describe tu barrio. ¿Te gusta tu barrio? ¿Por qué? ¿Hay mucho que hacer para los jóvenes / los adultos? ¿Cuál es lo bueno / lo malo de tu pueblo? ¿Qué te gusta más de tu pueblo? ¿Cómo es la gente por lo general? ¿Qué deportes se pueden practicar? ¿Hay muchos problemas? ¿Si pudieras cambiar algo en tu ciudad, qué cambiarías? ¿Cómo será tu pueblo ideal en el futuro? Enjoy!

After a recent Ofsted inspection our department has come up with a 'Check in System' in for pupils to review how they like learning. This form has worked wonders for us and has allowed us to get to know our pupils, especially our PP pupils (Pupil Premium), SEN & MAP (More Able Pupils) much better. It must be shown that all students are making progress (Especially since the introduction of the Progress 8 scores) From using these forms we have come up with strategies to help students who are not attaining or reaching their target grades and we have initiated intervention strategies. (All which Ofsted love!) Claddagh Classrooms

Sanish Year 7 - Introduction

(0)
This is a lesson I used for the first time this year and it worked really well with all my groups. (I had 6!) Included in the lesson are fact finding tasks, opportunities for student to highlight their prior knowledge and a questionnaire to endeavor to discover how students like to learn in lessons. This also asks students some information about the themselves that I use to build a rapport as the year progresses. It is a nice introduction to Spanish and you can do the lesson on computers OR as I have it laid out as a fact finding task. Please note you can buy the getting to know you handout as an individual resource in my store. Enjoy! Claddagh Classroom!
